"Fancy some tea, Harry?"
"I don't think any caption would ever sum this up."
Well hello there folks – it’s been a while, yes? We’ve been busy beavering away in the background making various tweaks to the site for the past fortnight or so, but now we’re back up-and-running once more, ready to deliver another slice of Monday morning oddness your way in the form of On the Horizon. In the time since we last spoke you have probably been busy on Mario Galaxy 2 and all sorts of fun shenanigans, but let’s take a look at what the last weekend of the first half of 2010 is bringing us.

As it turns out, it’s a heck of a lot of stuff, although nothing that would particularly stand out as a future classic. The one that’ll probably leap of shelves quicker than free hot pies is Lego Harry Potter, developed by Travellers Tales and released on every single platform under the sun. Expect all kinds of Potter-based slapstick Lego silliness as you leap and slap your way through the first four books (none of which I have read, I may add) whilst fighting against all sorts of evil. I am almost tempted to buy it so I can continually slap the Lego Ron Weasley until he falls into a pile of bits.

If you’re a fan of sniping (hello all of you wookies from Battlefield, there are quite a few of you!) then the release of Sniper: Ghost Warrior may tickle your fancy. Thus, you will finally be able to sit there in your snipey camping spots lamely shooting at flies, grass and bits of wreckage when all the rest of your time ARE DYING TRYING TO SET THE BOMB AT THE ENEMY’S M-COM STATION er I mean, snipe your way through a campaign set on a fictional South American island. Word is that it has reasonably decent ballistics going for it, although we all know that that’s already been done before.

Naughty Bear also heads our way on Friday, and looks completely nuts. Remember Manhunt? Well, think of that kind of concept, except rather than in a gritty and slightly disturbed downtown setting, you’re on a paradise island full of teddy bears and cast as a particularly naughty bear who goes postal after not being invited to a birthday party. Loaded with movie parodies and curiously disturbing moments, this one could end up being somewhat of a cult favourite, especially given the creepy kids’ TV show narrator.

PS3 owners who have steadfastly refused to import Demons Souls and hang on for a Euro release will no doubt be jolly to see it popping up on shop shelves this Friday. Supposedly a brutal action RPG affair, it’s been getting seriously impressive scores across the various ponds where it’s been released for a fair few months so it should be worth checking out if you’ve polished off Final Fantasy XIII recently and are itching for another sweeping adventure.

Last off, people of a certain age (as in, those born in the late 70’s and 80’s) can’t help but go all misty-eyed and nostalgic every time they hear about Transformers. This Friday sees War for Cybertron released for the 360 and the PS3. It looks to be an action-based third-person shooter where you take part in huge battles between the Autobots and Decepticons. Whether it’ll actually be any good is entirely another matter (the movie tie-in games were rather awful, sadly), but a bit of Transformer action is always welcome.

That about rounds it up chaps, so feel free to take the above into account and use it to base your decisions for the weekend. Oh, and best make sure you have a healthy supply of fingernails at the ready for Sunday’s game against Germany if you’re English. Who wants to bet that we’ll go out on penalties again? Surely not...
